1. Who can start a Foundation?
The short answer is anyone that has a desire to establish a charitable
donation program.
2. How much does it cost?
A foundation by Colson, Sawyer & Associates
costs only $300 (application and filing fee)
3. How much does it cost to
maintain a Foundation?
This costs varies. However, Colson,
Sawyer & Associates charges 10% for each donation to the funds it
manages. This fee covers administration and funds management expenses,
which includes directed disbursements to designated charity recipients (such as
scholarship awardees).
4. How long does it take for an
application to be approved?
Generally, you should allow for a week.
5. How can I apply to have
Colson, Sawyer & Associates administer my Foundation?
Just give us a call. We'll have you complete the necessary
application. Once your application has been approved by the board (allow 7
days), Colson, Sawyer & Associates will set up
a program tailored to your needs.
6. How long does it take for
funds to be disbursed from my Foundation?
Colson, Sawyer & Associates will
issue a check within 24 hours of receipt of your written request. All
disbursements requests will be verified.
7. How do I ensure my
Foundation is in legal compliance at all times?
If Colson, Sawyer & Associates
administers your Foundation, we will handle all the
"paperwork". This includes, but is not limited to, receiving all
donations, making approved disbursements, sending receipts for charitable
donations, Foundation related accounting, and ensure state and federal laws
conformance.
8. How do I raise funds?
Colson, Sawyer & Associates will
provide you with a packet of fund raising ideas and suggestions which cover all
aspects of the fundraising challenge. This is the fun part. We will
serve as advisors and assist you through each phase of your fundraising project.
9. How do I obtain merchandise
for my Foundation, such as T-shirts and ball caps?
Through its network of partners and associates, Colson,
Sawyer & Associates can design, produce and deliver an array of
specialty items specifically tailored for your Foundation....all at a very
modest and reasonable cost.
10. What qualifies as an
"acceptable" charity?
Practically any program that provides unpaid assistance. Colson,
Sawyer & Associates will not administer programs that promote
violence or the use of illegal drugs.
